The
International Studies Division had its beginning in 1997 with
the opening of a Branch school in Quito, Ecuador. This humble
beginning was accompanied by a big dream and an indomitable
faith that God would bless an effort to train spokesmen for
Him in their own language and land.
We
exist to take quality Biblical instruction, ministry training
and mentors of the servant attitude of Christ to students
on every continent on earth. We are not there yet, but with
God's blessings and the generous support of Christian individuals
and congregations we will get there.
Sunset has
the flexibility to meet each opportunity at its point of need.
We can taylor a program to help take a location from no school
or a fledgling school to a quality institution with a creditable
Bible-centered curriculum, taught by a highly qualified faculty,
producing capable spokesmen with a spirit for evangelism and
church planting in their own homeland.
We classify
our involvement under the broad categories of Branch Schools
and Associate Schools.
Within our
system, a Branch School is one over which Sunset assumes major
responsibility. This includes providing administration, faculty,
curriculum, housing, financial support, and anything else
needed to allow the school to succeed.
Branch schools
operate under a time-limited contract with the host Christian
leadership. This is usually a 5 year contract and the goal
is to be able to move to an Associate status with a well established,
locally administered school at the end of that time. Quito,
Ecuador is a excellent example of this plan in action.
Schools that
have an Associate status with Sunset operate under a very
flexible contract that addresses the specific needs of each
situation. Some schools, for example, may have a strong local
leadership but are in need of a recognized quality curriculum.
In order for
any school, Branch or Associate, to be a part of the Sunset
organization, it must agree to adhere to specified standards
of excellence in curriculum, faculty, and scriptural integrity.
