Malawi Report - 2007 The College Hill Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas has been supporting a group of preachers for decades in Malawi. On-site missionaries worked with the local preachers, but in recent years the American mission workers have returned to the States and mentoring and teaching has ceased. While the supported preachers have continued preaching and teaching classes, there has surfaced an obvious need to train and equip future generations of preachers. Mark Samsill, the mission committee deacon at College Hill, and Chris Swinford have traveled to Malawi and discussed the possibilities with the local preachers and have determined places to have a school and Christian preachers to administer the courses. A group on a recent mission trip to Malawi from College Hill delivered two complete sets of DVD’s and handbooks from the SIBI External Studies Division and portable DVD players to church leaders in the cities of Karonga and Mzimba in Malawi. The College Hill Church of Christ will be underwriting all of the costs for the ministry training schools. In September, Chris Swinford and Jerry Hogg will visit with the church
leaders who have been entrusted with these materials and help them to
set up their ministry training schools. The designated teachers will watch
one of the assigned classes and then teach the class to the students.
As it stands right now, there are approximately 10 students in Karonga
and 35 students in Mzimba ready to take classes. Classes should begin
in September of this year. |
