An agreement with the Bangkok Leadership Training Institute (BSLI) was formally signed on June 5, 2005 with Patinya Thitathan, director of the school and George Carman, Dean of International Ministry Training/Asia. This signing took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The signing was witnessed by the members of the Watcharapon Church of Christ and by graduates and current students of BSLI. This school began in 1996 and has graduated 18 students to date. Four more are scheduled for graduation by the end of 2005. The current student body consists of 24 students. Some of the students are from Laos but most of the students University students at the largest school in Thailand, Ramkhamhaeng University. Those who completed their training have proven to be a force for good in the congregations where they attend. Teachers for the school include Patinya Thitathan, the director, Suriapol Sistisuthul, and Pralaat. Brother Thitathan is a graduate of Sunset in Lubbock, Texas. The other two graduated from preacher training schools in Thailand. Sunset International is assisting them by providing curriculum and upgrading the school to include a preacher training track. Teachers will be provided to teach some of these courses. BSLI already has many good features. They teach the word of God in depth and they provide practicum for students by taking them to village churches to gain experience working with rural churches. In addition, they do evangelism among the students at Ramkhamhaeng University. A daily radio broadcast is beamed in the country of Laos and is making a real difference in the lives of our brethren in Laos and also reaches out to those who do not know Jesus Christ. The school now has a brand new three-story building to house its school. It includes dormitory rooms for men and women, a caretaker apartment, a library room, two classrooms, and a kitchen that will service both the school and the congregation (about 150 in attendance on Sunday mornings.) BSLI is making a difference in Thailand by providing able spokesmen of the word. Sunset is happy to partner with this great school. May God bless them as they train others to reach out to those who have never heard the Gospel of Christ. January 2006 update
