Curitiba, Parana - The Lord’s church is alive and well in Brazil! Eighteen years ago two missionary families from Sunset International Bible Institute moved to Curitiba. Today Curitiba has a thriving congregation of over 300 members, a beautiful and modern church building with an attached gymnasium. The newest ministry of the Curitiba congregation is the Bible Institute of Southern Brazil. This school, an Applicant School of Sunset International Bible Institute, began in September, 2005, with nine full-time students. The exciting thing about this great beginning is that four of the students (two married couples) are supported by the Curitiba congregation! This school is under the direction of Rod Nealeigh, one of the original missionaries who came to establish the church. Pictured to the left are the director, Rod Nealeigh, and four of the instructors and their wives. Among the instructors are two native Brazilians, one converted and trained in Curitiba and the other a graduate of Harding Christian University. Both the students and the faculty are fully dedicated to the preaching of the gospel in Brazil and wherever else in the world the Lord gives them opportunity. With the opening of this school eight schools among Hispanic and Brazilian brethren are now affiliated with Sunset. We continue to receive opportunities to work with or establish new schools throughout Latin America. |
