David and Lorie French have committed themselves to establishing a ministry training school in Zambia, Africa. The Sycamore View congregation in Memphis, TN has graciouly accepted the oversite of their ministry and they are presently (October, 2003) beginning the process of raising funds for their moving, living, and operating expenses.

Patrick Kawinga is in the final stages of completing a set of plans for the school in Mapepe and will be sending these to Doug Reeves for Sunset's approval.

In order to be closer to their sponsoring congregation, David and Lorie have just recently moved to Memphis, TN from Wilmington, NC where David was serving as the Puplit Minister for the Pine Valley congregation. He has been involved in full-time ministry for more than twenty-seven years and has ministered with churches in Iowa, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, and North Carolina. In the early 1980's, he and his wife, Lorie, worked as missionaries in Kenya, East Africa. And, while working on his doctorate, David also worked as a Campus Minister at the University of Tennessee at Martin (where he also taught college Bible courses for credit in Old and New Testament).

David and Lorie have now been married for 27 years. They have four children, three of which were adopted from Korea, Florida, and India. Their oldest son is now married and has a one-year old daughter (David and Lorie's only grandchild). Although Lorie has served as an Elementary School Teacher and is currently completing her Masters in Education, she not presently employed outside the home. Instead, she is homeschooling their two youngest children and devotes the remainder of her time to the ministry.

David attended Freed-Hardeman University (B.A. in Bible), where he met and married Lorie. He completed his Masters in Theology (M.Th) at Harding Graduate School in 1982. He studied French at the University of Laval in Quebec in preparation for mission work in Africa. While living in Iowa, David did graduate work in Marriage and Family Therapy at Iowa State University. He completed his Doctorate (D.Min) at Harding University Graduate School of Religion in 1996.

For the past seven years, David has also served as an Adjunct Professor for the Nigerian Christian Bible College in Nigeria, West Africa. Once a year (typically in August) David and Lorie have traveled to Nigeria for three-four weeks to teach a Bible short-course, usually on the Pentateuch and 1-2 Corinthians.

Both David and Lorie's parents have also served full-time in ministry. David's father, Parker French, has now preached full-time for more than fifty years and is presently (even at age 78) preaching for a church in Kentucky. David's family also served as missionaries in Pakistan and Australia during David's High-School years. Lorie's father, Richard Waggoner, has also labored in full-time ministry and has served as a School Principal and School Superintendent. Although now retired, he continues to serve in ministry as a volunteer and has made several mission trips to Nigeria, Latin America, and Russia.
