As
Office Coordinator of the International Translation Center, Darlene is
responsible for communicating with all the editors and translators that
work in English and the different international fields. The Translation
Center currently has over 50 contacts that are involved in one way or
another. Darlene is responsible for keeping track of the progress of each
individual translator and editor. As each transcript reaches the completion
stage, it is sent back to Darlene, she makes the necessary changes and
sends it for the next translation or edit. The Translation Center presently
employs 30 editors and translators. Every manuscript goes through at least
5 English edits before translation, and then it goes through a professional
linguist and another edit before it is ready to be printed. Before this
process begins, Darlene is responsible for the first draft edit of each
SIBI course. This involves taking the printed spoken transcript and putting
it into a readable book format. During each stage she is responsible for
keeping a hard copy and a disk on file of whatever stage the manuscript
is going through on hand in the Translation Center. |
