Doug Reeves - Dean Ministry Training, Europe / Translation

One of the most amazing facts in the Sunset global training program is the drawing together of so many worthy servants, really capable and highly motivated people. Two of those are Doug Reeves and his faithful, servant wife, Marge.

Doug left a job of his heart's desire to enroll in Sunset in 1988. After two years of impressive ministry studies they moved to work with the congregation at Rotan, TX and later moved to work with the Westgate church in Abilene, TX

In 1998 they moved to develop a small school in Donetsk, Ukraine. In just over four years Doug led the school to an enrollment of about sixty students, served by a three man faculty and housed in a central, school owned building on two floors.

He was invited to bring his organizational and leadership skills to Lubbock to become the Dean of Ministry Training and Assistant Dean of the International Studies Division. During the next three years he was effective in the following:

1/ He guided the Division through one of Sunset's most difficult, financial crises, even as exploding opportunities to expand prevailed.
2/ He accepted the leadership in turning around a translation center program to produce a library of Sunset Bible courses in multiple languages.
4/ He gives several months each year to visiting Sunset schools abroad and serving as a visiting teacher.
5/ He is an effective communicator of the Sunset vision, giving warmth, excitement and purpose to supporters and interested brethren.
7/ He was at the center of every decision to add new schools in Zambia, Ghana, Liberia, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Albania, Houston and others still in development.

In December of 2004, Doug requested to refocus his dedicated skills to an area close to his heart and ministry desires: Europe. He has already begun laying a ground work for a third, fruitful area of service. He begins his work in Russia to strengthen the administration of the school, as he works with the other three schools in the region: Donetsk, Athens and a new school in Tirana, Albania. There are faculty assignments to fill, buildings to be fully utilized or new facilities to be secured. There are new opportunities, like Paris, where new schools might be established. He will continue his direction of the Translation Center where major projects in Russian, Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese are progressing and additional funding will be sought.
