Adopt a Book for Translation Appeal |

April 15, 2004 Dear Brethren: I am writing to tell you about a special request from the Sunset International Translation Center, which is a division of the Sunset International Bible Institute. The Translation Center was a dream for many years, but it became a reality in May 2000. The goal of the Translation Center is to provide quality biblical resource materials for the world in their native languages beginning with the courses that are taught at Sunset keying on the languages where Sunset has Branch Schools. Native students who graduate from these schools will have a Study Library as a resource. For years, missionaries and ministry trainers in foreign lands have pleaded for printed material that is both biblically sound and accurately translated to share with local Christians. The Translation Center previously formed a partnership with Eastern European Mission in Vienna, Austria, to print books for Eastern European countries. The first Russian translation of a Sunset course is already in the hands of the students of the branch schools in Donetsk, Ukraine, and Barnaul, Russia. The book Paid in Full is the Roman’s course that was taught by Richard Rogers for so many years. Thanks to the Sunset Institute Press this book is also available in English through the External Studies Division. Courses are currently being translated into: Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. There are presently 15 courses that are involved in the translation process. This process begins with in-depth English editing, followed by an initial translation, and then numerous proof-readings to produce a quality manuscript ready for print. Once in print each book will be available to the brotherhood for distribution. The Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX, has agreed to help finance the editing, translating, and printing of a number of Arabic books. Funding is still needed in every area, but we are especially excited to be able to announce that there are 4 books in Spanish (Acts, Ephesians, Historical Christian Evidences, and Romans) and 3 in Portuguese (Ephesians, Historical Christian Evidences, and Life of Christ) that are ready to go to print. This can be a massive step toward evangelizing the world for Christ.
